The Anual Reports of the Bulgarian Lawyers for Human Rights Foundation
contain succinct information divided in three main fields. They illustrate
the substance of our organization, our objectives and our means for
achieving them. The Reports enumerate the projects we work on, with or
without the support of other organizations with similar objectives. The
Reports contain extensive descriptions of judicial cases taken by our
lawyers during the corresponding period with the national courts and
the European Court in Strasbourg. The cases are divided by subtitles
according to the type of violation of basic human rights they refer
to.
Aside from the description of concrete cases we work on, the Reports
contain summarized information on typical and/or often repeated issues
and drawbacks we encounter in our work. The word here is mainly about
the domestic law and practice in Bulgaria, but other imperfections in
the workings of the institutions in Strasbourg and the European Court
of Human Rights are exposed too.
An important part of our Annual Reports is the popularization of our
activities. Aside from participating in strategic legal cases, Bulgarian
Lawyers for Human Rights develop widespread informational activity,
oriented not only towards the jurists in the country, but also towards
the whole society. This part of the Reports describes the publications
of the Foundation, the interviews given and the articles published by
its members, as well as the multiple lectures presented by members in
different cities and places in Bulgaria.
In their final part, the Annual Reports contain data for the structure
of the Bulgarian Lawyers for Human Rights Foundation, as well as data
for the institutional transformations we undertake, as a result of our
growing list of activities.
